These months we continue working on the training process in the Peace Chair with teachers and young people from three institutes in Tumaco and Francisco Pizarro ITPC, General and Tumac. With them we promote from the classroom an active leadership that takes the initiative in the peaceful solution of conflicts.
Among other aspects, emphasis was placed on the importance of dialogue and respect for different points of view, worked from:
- Group observation of images, where the participants discussed the different interpretations of the images and how the perspective of each group influenced their conclusions, as well as their knowledge and experience. Each student interprets reality in a unique way, which influences the way in which she perceives and analyzes the information.
- They were also able to see how different points of view can enrich the understanding of a conflict and allow the search for more creative and equitable solutions.
- They explored how in a real conflict, different parties involved can have divergent perspectives and a unique interpretation of the situation, making it difficult to resolve the conflict, but also providing an opportunity to explore various solutions and come to stronger agreements.
- And they concluded the importance of listening and promoting dialogue, empathy and the search for consensual solutions. By considering the opinions of others, a more inclusive and constructive environment for resolving conflicts can be built.
The workshop allowed the participants to reflect on their personal leadership and the importance of dialogue and understanding in the peaceful resolution of conflicts in schools. Linked to this workshop in 11 primary schools we have carried out the activity “Mediation in action”, based on the soundscapes of the territory and their emotional connection. In this way, getting to know and better understand territorial diversity through music and their own sounds made students show greater awareness of their cultural identity and the importance of constructive conflict resolution in their communities. These actions of Global Humanitaria have the objective of implanting a chair of peace in schools and institutes of Tumaco.
