On the island of Kumirmari (Sunderbans) and in Murshidabad (near Calcutta) we have distributed books, notebooks, basic school supplies and umbrellas to 2,157 primary school boys and girls. The distribution is carried out in the 19 centers where we provide school reinforcement in basic subjects such as language, writing, reading and mathematics to keep students in the school system.
At Global Humanitaria/ Marchd we provide training to teachers and we meet periodically with them and with the students’ families. The objective is to share the results and academic needs of girls and boys. Also raise awareness about the importance of regular school attendance as well as the participation of fathers and mothers in the education, care and health of their children.
Teacher training is carried out on an ongoing basis: we carry out periodic evaluations and monitor their progress and needs in order to improve the quality of the teaching they provide.
These educational actions aim to promote education and equal opportunities for children and adolescents in impoverished rural areas of India.
