Global Humanitaria has delivered water filters to 10 families participating in our health and food security program, in the El Caoba community. The filters provide safe drinking water by filtering impurities and pathogenic microorganisms present in drinking water. All of this reduces the incidence of diseases such as diarrhea, cholera and other gastrointestinal pathologies, many of them contagious, and improves community health.
Unlike some water purification methods, which may require electricity or chemicals, ecofilters are sustainable and do not generate polluting waste , thus contributing to environmental conservation. Additionally, they require little maintenance and are easy to use, allowing communities to manage and maintain the system without major complications.
This delivery is part of the “Sowing development” project, through which we promote sustainable food systems and comprehensive health in the home, by strengthening female leadership in two Mayan Q’eqchí communities.
