Global Humanitaria Guatemala has participated in the first meeting of women leaders and officials from governmental and non-governmental institutions , a space for dialogue and collaboration that promotes the creation and monitoring of effective public policies for women and youth at the municipal level.
The meeting was organized by the Municipal Women’s Directorate of Poptún, with the participation of institutions such as: National Council of Protected Areas, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food, Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, Ministry of Development, Secretariat of Food and Nutritional Security, Secretariat of Planning and Programming of the Presidency and AMA Association, among other institutions present in the municipality.
Women leaders from various communities in Poptún attended, and presented their needs (from the family to the community; from health to the economy), and the challenges they still face, since, despite their efforts to train them, it is still difficult for them to be taken into account in community meetings.
The meeting promotes the exchange of experiences and good practices between women leaders and officials, creating strategic alliances to ensure that public policies respond to local realities, incorporating the gender and youth perspective in their design and implementation to improve the well-being and development of these groups in society.
