Last Sunday, January 19, in the Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta in Zaragoza , we celebrated the 1st Global Humanitarian Race with those affected by DANA
More than 1,000 people took part in the various 4km and 8km races in the iconic park, including professional runners, amateurs, families and schoolchildren who, despite the intense cold, went out to enjoy a morning of sport for a charitable cause. To them we must add those who got a number 0.
It was a day that combined sporting events for those who recorded times with walks with friends or family. All without losing sight of the objective, supporting those affected by the catastrophic floods of October 29 and 30 that caused the death of more than 223 people and enormous material damage that is still being quantified, but which exceeds 17 billion euros in Valencia.
The money raised by Global Humanitaria, in collaboration with Carnet Joven and Fartleck Esport, will go towards alleviating these losses and helping them recover.
Global Humanitarian in Valencia
Global Humanitaria has begun to provide aid in the area affected by the DANA since November 1. A team has been deployed there to help with cleaning tasks and the distribution of food, hygiene products, water or tools in Chiva, Sedaví, Benetússer, Picanya, Paiporta, Massanassa and Catarroja. Another line of action has been to take on the transfer of materials and goods between the affected municipalities in order to respond to the isolation of several of these localities; especially in the first stages following the DANA.
Thanks to the collaboration of the residents of these municipalities and with the support of town councils, partners, sponsors and companies that make donations in solidarity with the victims of this catastrophe, we were able to deliver them directly to the people who need them. We continue to be at the side of those affected, because
there is still much to do .
