In Puno, we carried out a tree-planting campaign in eight schools serving the Quechua population, where students and teachers planted more than 1,000 pines, ceticio cypresses, queñuas, and qollys.
This activity seeks to promote environmental stewardship in educational institutions and environmental education through activities such as tree planting, teacher training, and the integration of educational content on environmental stewardship and the school environment. All of this takes place in an area affected by climate change, the degradation of natural resources, and the loss of community knowledge.
These actions are aimed at promoting sustainable environmental values and generating a positive impact on the learning and ecological awareness of the school community.
In this environment, Global Humanitaria carries out health and education programs aimed at protecting children’s rights, such as:
- cultivation of school bio-gardens in primary schools
- Support for the school food service, in terms of food and kitchen and dining room infrastructure
- training for parents in preparing school menus
- Application of the ATAL program to improve reading and writing skills and, at the same time, learning in all subjects
