In Puno we are working to increase the availability of fresh food for schoolchildren. For this we promote the production of vegetables in 18 school organic gardens, with the collaboration of teachers and the families of the students. In recent weeks we have:

→ improved the substrate of the vegetable garden in the Cabanilla school, an activity in which 100 families of schoolchildren and 9 teachers have participated

→ we have installed and improved the irrigation systems (by sprinkler and drip) replacing deteriorated parts in 18 orchards, with the collaboration of 25 families, 50 children and 6 teachers.

→ we have built new garden in the IEP Buenavista, hand in hand with 15 parents 4 teachers.

These actions reach 661 children (and their families) from Quechua communities.

On the other hand, we have taught food preparation workshops for mothers and fathers who take care of making the menus in 16 school canteens. With them we have prepared dishes such as pumpkin locro, quinua chaufa, chard sauté, quinoa chili with chicken, chard stew or chard toasts.

And we have provided hygiene kits for 23 schools for the cleaning and hygiene of spaces and utensils, and to disinfect hostels and vegetables.
