Global Humanitaria, as a member of the Municipal Food Security Commission(COMUSAN), actively participates in the delivery of food to 18 children diagnosed with acute malnutrition identified by the Secretariat of Food and Nutritional Security (SESAN) and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance in the municipality of Poptún.
Each family was given 40 kg of beans, 27 kg of rice, 34 kg of Maseca, 6 bottles of 800 ml oil, 9 bags of 1 kg oats, 15 bags of 500 g sugar and 12 bags of 900 g Incaparina.
The program’s objective is to provide the necessary food to treat acute malnutrition in children and help them recover so they can have healthy growth, combining assistance with monitoring of health status, nutritional training for families, and strategies to improve food security at home.
In this regard, Global Humanitaria has launched the first actions of the Healthy Homes program in the community of Canchacán , an initiative that seeks to strengthen the integral well-being of families through the organization and participation of a group of women leaders.
One of the project’s cornerstones is the backyard gardens. Beyond being a source of food production, these gardens represent a key tool for promoting self-sufficiency, improving family nutrition, and fostering sustainable practices. Through training, technical support, and educational activities, the project works with the families of 10 participating women.
