More than 2,000 children attend the educational support classes we run at 19 centers in Murshidabad and the Sundarbans. The goal is to help them improve their basic reading, writing, and math skills so they can stay in school at the appropriate level for as long as possible. This year in Murshidabad, 87 eighth-grade students (ages 12-14) completed primary school, and a celebration was held to mark the occasion. The event included speeches from the teachers, letters from the students to their sponsors, and gifts from the teachers.
Simultaneously, teacher meetings were held to organize monthly activities, review student progress, and plan the new enrollment process for children in the school reinforcement program.
Global Humanitaria’s educational program in India includes training for participating teachers, regular meetings with them and their families, and student assessments to identify areas for improvement. This approach promotes schooling and education for children within the community, as well as highlighting the importance of early childhood care and learning for their future development.
