PIHRO – PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANISATION
Following the seizure of power by the Taliban in Afghanistan, there has been a massive exodus of people fleeing the new regime to neighboring countries such as Pakistan, which for decades has received Afghan refugees, displaced persons or asylum seekers.
Global Humanitaria, in collaboration with Pakistan International Human Rights Organization (PIHRO), identified a settlement of Afghan families in Mansehra, near the Afghan border, with serious difficulties in accessing health services. The Civil Hospital of Phulra there cares for the local population and 2,000 refugee families. This is the only health center that serves the area, and is in an almost dilapidated state, suffering from a lack of material, equipment and personnel. All this infringes upon the right to care, making access to basic health care difficult.
Phulra Hospital dates back to 1951 and serves local and refugee populations from the Mansehra district. Our program aims to improve the living conditions of Afghan refugee families by improving their access to basic health services at this Hospital.
