Despite the strides made in Cambodia, inequality and poverty affect, in particular, rural areas inhabited by the majority of the population, which basically depends on farming for their livelihood.
The schooling program is more than necessary in the poor rural area of Takeo. This project improves children’s access to basic education by supporting schools, teachers, and students in the form of funds and school supplies. Communication with families about the importance of their children attending school is equally important.
So far, our efforts have reached more than 2,500 students in 18 primary schools. Many of them would otherwise not be able to go to school without this support.
Much work still needs to be done, but for many, the future now offers much better opportunities.
