In Puno, within the food security program, we work to improve the availability and diversification of food for families . Global Humanitaria supports the program with the provision of seeds and the schools prepare the ground for planting.
Thus, in different primary educational institutions, fodder is grown for livestock(Moro, Chapa Cabanilla) while in others, potatoes (Chillichupa), vegetables and greens are planted (Llachón, Capano, Ccotos, Isañura, Capajsi, Coata Moro, Collana , Vilque, Cabanilla, Deustua and Sagrado, among others), partly for consumption by students in school cafeterias . These activities are carried out with the participation of family associations, IEP directors and teachers.

In addition to monitoring these crops in the Moro, Chapa and Collana I schools, our team on the ground takes care of:

→ the technical assistance of the 21 school biogardens that we promote.

→ the improvements to the kitchens and school cafeterias of 6 educational centers

→ we have given  workshops on the use of vegetables to parents who are in charge of preparing school menus

→ and we have taken water samples in 8 schools to check its potability
