In coordination with the Health Centre, we have carried out the second health campaign in 6 schools in Vacas. More than 300 primary schoolchildren have participated in nutritional checks, focusing on measuring height and weight and providing vitamin A and mebendazole. Around 27% of the school population in Vacas, participating in the project, suffer from some degree of malnutrition.

On the other hand, in mid-October, in a public event and in the presence of authorities from the Autonomous Municipal Government of Vacas, more than 50 qq of food was delivered to educational units with cafeterias to strengthen the Complementary School Feeding.

This action is complemented by a programme of 15 school and 9 community organic gardens that provide fresh vegetables to diversify and improve the nutrients in the diet of families and the health of schoolchildren.

In recent weeks, activities in Vacas schools have been extremely complicated due to roadblocks that have affected access and face-to-face classes, which have been reduced to 3 days a week. In addition to the impact on student learning , this situation has begun to affect families in Vacas. The blockades have generated food shortages in the municipality, and this also has a direct impact on the Complementary Food provided in schools, which is why Global Humanitaria’s contributions have been especially significant.
