Our school gardens project is linked to the educational process in classrooms and allows the integration of all academic aspects of learning. At the same time, it is a setting for socialization, participation, and reflection on the environment, health, and nutrition. The project mainly aims to improve the food and nutrition of schoolchildren by incorporating fresh vegetables into their diet, as well as to strengthen the educational network of high Andean communities to promote food security.
The school gardens project for food self-sufficiency in the high Andean communities of Puno includes the strengthening of 14 bio-gardens managed by parents, teachers, and students, in order to obtain food and for these gardens to serve as learning centers.
