In Puno we continue to work with educational communities (families, teachers and students) to improve access to food in a sustainable manner. These months of June and July:
> We have provided training on the planting and cultivation of Andean products aimed at families that participate in the productive venture project that we carry out. 189 parents and teachers from four schools participated in these awareness-raising and coordination activities.
> We are supporting potato, alfalfa and fodder oat harvests in seven schools (10 families), mostly for family and school consumption
> We monitor 21 school organic gardens , which in June suffered from the low temperatures in the area (7 degrees below zero), limiting the development of vegetables. We are providing technical assistance in cleaning , transplanting and irrigation activities with the collaboration of 271 members of the Parents’ Associations of the schools, 58 directors and 45 students.
> Promoting the cultivation of vegetables in the open field to improve the diversity and availability of food for 54 families in three communities: Llachón, Capano and Chapa.
