The training addresses the topic of food security and everything it includes, such as access to food, availability, use and balance of nutrients in daily nutrition. Also the proper use of water for different purposes; how to store it correctly, the treatments to make it suitable for consumption and the contamination routes . Likewise, the importance of hygiene in food handlingand in the food preparation area
was discussed ; hand washing, food disinfection, types of contamination and the consequences of consuming contaminated food. Emphasis was also placed on personal and environmental hygiene practices, and the separation of clean areas from waste areas. The objective of these actions is the prevention of diseases and the promotion of health in the community.
The Secretariat of Food and Nutrition Security, following the celebration of World Food Day on October 16, highlighted the importance of water in the production and safety of food and that the line of action “Safe water, sanitation and hygiene” is incorporated into the country’s National Food Safety and Nutrition Policy.
