In Tumaco, we are carrying out actions to improve classroom learning with the support of the “Let’s All Learn to Read” (ATAL) program.
These months have included:
→ We trained 27 teachers in the theoretical foundations of the “Let’s All Learn to Read (ATAL)” program, providing them with support materials and a teaching guide.
The program uses a structured methodology that motivates student participation and includes a variety of activities and materials designed to adapt teaching to the pace, level, and needs of each student. It also proposes a dedicated space in the classroom for a library to work on reading and text comprehension. The program strengthens the skills of both students and teachers.
→ We train the team of tutors who support these teachers and monitor the ATAL program in 13 schools and three community centers where reinforcement sessions are held. We conduct an analysis of the students and the activities to be carried out with them. We also provide them with tools to inform families about the program and involve them in their children’s learning.
These actions, which improve the quality of learning and prevent grade repetition and dropout rates, reach nearly 2,000 primary school children.
