The main objective of Global Humanitaria Peru is to promote the integral development of depressed rural areas.
ROBERTO BALAREZO, NATIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL HUMANITARIA PERU
Global Humanitaria has been working in the rural areas of Peru since 2001 through education and food security projects following an inclusive, gender-based, intercultural, and participatory approach.
Since 2012, we have been running the health and food security program, reinforced by the educational school garden program managed by the educational communities.
The beneficiaries of the program are vulnerable high Andean communities of Quechua origin. Our actions aim to strengthen the community as an organizational structure. We work at the community, family, and school levels, all at the same time.
It is crucial to include the schools as well, due to their importance in these communities where, in many cases, they are the only institutions present. Families come together in school, and knowledge is shared with children, their families, and leaders. This contributes to the sustainability of the intervention.
