LETICIA JARAMILLO, DIRECTOR OF THE GLOBAL HUMANITARIA FOUNDATION COLOMBIA
Global Humanitaria started its efforts in Colombia in 1998. Our projects and efforts are seen in Tumaco, Francisco Pizarro, and Mosquera on the Pacific coast of Colombia, which is one of the country’s most depressed areas and inhabited mostly by Afro-Colombians and indigenous minorities.
From the offices in Bogotá and Tumaco, a team composed of nutritionists, social workers, and field technicians, among others, is responsible for project execution and oversee the relations among children, their families, and the beneficiary communities.
In Colombia, working in the midst of a conflict caused by the presence of armed groups outside the bounds of law presents the greatest difficulty in our operations. In addition to educational, health, and food safety programs, we work in a cross-cutting manner to promote changes in lifestyle habits that will allow us to tackle the root of the problems, in order to promote the empowerment of the youth and women.
Number of beneficiaries: 7,380
